Potential Use of Wheat Straw, Grape Pomace, Olive Mill Wastewater and Cheese Whey in Mixed Formulations for Silage Production

چکیده
Two experiments were conducted to investigate the chemical and fermentative characteristics of by-product-mixed silages consisting wheat straw (WS), grape pomace (GP), olive mill wastewater (OMWW) cheese whey (CW) at 7, 30 90 days. The silage formulations based on a ratio 60% solids (WS + GP) 40% liquids (CW OMWW), with addition water (W) where necessary achieve liquids. In experiment 1, effects inclusion GP or CW in mixture WS OMWW studied according two formulations: SIL-A, WS40% OMWW5% GP20% W35%; SIL-B, WS60% CW35%. 2, levels mixed WS, GP, four SIL-C, CW20% W20%; SIL-D, W15%; SIL-E, CW35% W5%; SIL-F, OMWW5%. formulation affected composition showing greater (p < 0.05) content DM SIL-B; crude protein, ether extract ADL contents higher SIL-A. no differences > found. both experiments, total phenol did not change during ensiling period. Fermentative by by-product combination nor period proved be adequate for good-quality silages. Flieg’s scores D30 D90 than 100 score all experimental silages, leading conclusion that can effective producing silage.

Tissue specific effects of feeds supplemented with grape pomace or olive oil mill wastewater on detoxification enzymes in sheep
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of livestock feed supplemented with grape pomace (GP) or olive oil mill wastewater (OMW) byproducts on the enzymatic activity and protein expression of antioxidants enzymes, in liver and spleen tissue of sheep. Thus, 36 male sheep of Chios breed were divided into 3 homogeneous groups, control group (n = 12), GP group (n = 12) and OMW g...
متن کاملLipase production by Aspergillus ibericus using olive mill wastewater.
Olive mill wastewater (OMW) characteristics make it a suitable resource to be used as a microbial culture media to produce value-added compounds, such as enzymes. In this work, the ability of the novel species Aspergillus ibericus to discolor OMW and produce lipase was studied. An initial screening on plates containing an OMW-based agar medium and an emulsified olive oil/rhodamine-B agar medium...
متن کاملMixed silage of Elodea and wheat straw as a substrate for energy production in anaerobic digestion plants
Background: Waterweeds (Elodea nuttallii and Elodea canadensis) are invasive neophytes, which have been proliferating at a phenomenal rate during the last decades in German waterways. In case of overgrowth, the strong covering of vegetation can cause problems in hydroelectric power plants and leads to limitations in ship and boat traffic as well as in use for bathing and fishing activities. Aft...
متن کاملAntimicrobial Activity of Olive Mill Wastewater Extract Against Pseudomonas Fluorescens Isolated from Mozzarella Cheese
Olive mill wastewater polyphenol extract was tested for antimicrobial activity against 64 strains of Pseudomonas fluorescens responsible for mozzarella discolouration. The extract showed a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)50 value of 5 mg/mL and a MIC90 value of 7 mg/mL. The MBC50 and MBC90 values corresponded to 6 and 8 mg/mL, respectively. The MIC concentration (7 mg/mL) was demonstrated...
متن کاملAnaerobic digestion of mixed silage of waterweed biomass and wheat straw in a long-term semi-continuous biogas production process
Background: As part of the maintenance of lakes and rivers, large quantities of aquatic biomass are produced every year. Neophytes, such as Elodea nuttallii, compete with native species and cause a disturbance to the ecosystem, which can manifest itself in the form of eutrophication. Aquatic macrophytes are not in competition with the production of food and animal feed and thus can be used in a...
